The Secret Agent
„Well those were not my exact words. I said that upon the culmination of the proletariat…“
The last part of the British trilogy in Divadlo Na zábradlí. After Shakespeare and Doyle, this time we’ll be dissecting another classic of British modern literature, Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) – directed and adapted by our resident director, David Jařab. Mr. Verloc runs a simple anarchist business, but also works as a Russian agent on the side. However, the East starts asking for more than just harmless snitching of radical comrades, they demand actual deeds in exchange for their money. This strikingly topical novel tells the story of a single bomb that was supposed to cause fear and chaos in London at the turn of the 19th and 20th century and bring Britain closer to Russia’s interests. A probe into the demise of love and family in the wheel of history.
