Dita Kaplanová

Member of Divadlo Na zábradlí ensemble since 2014.

She was born in Brno, and from the age of six she played in a theatre company, where she was discovered by Karel Kachyňa for his film Waiting for the Rain. Her portrayal of Vendulka in The Girl with a Sea-Shell was also a great success, for which she received the award for Best Actress at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. She went on to star in many other film and television projects, although she did not initially consider acting to be the field she wanted to pursue in life. She graduated from the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno and then went on to perform at the Husa na provázku Theatre in Brno, where she portrayed many of her major roles. From 2007 she was a member of the National Theatre in Brno, from where she then transferred to Divadlo Na zábradlí. She is also involved abroad – she has led children’s theatre workshops at UFA Fabrik in West Berlin, at Miami Sommer University in Oxford, Ohio and in Aarhus, Denmark. Besides acting, she also dubs and performs on radio.
